Slide 15

The Human Element

  • Young Adults Sometimes use Poor Judgment

    • Fireworks

    • Alcohol

    • Tampering with Fire Protection Equipment

    • Ignoring Fire Alarms

    • Fire Suppression Efforts

Young adults, away from home for first time, sometimes do careless things. In 1996, the Fresno Fire Department responded to a small explosion that occurred in the CSUF Dorms. Fireworks were found to have been discharged. Fortunately, a fire did not occur. Nonetheless, hundreds of students were placed in danger.

Students can be found intoxicated or under the influence of drugs at CSUF Dorms

A USFA study found alcohol consumption preceded many fatal fires in student housing. Alcohol impairs judgment as well as senses. Monitor the use of alcohol in your students.
