PROGRAM OBJECTIVES & OVERVIEW
The Bachelor of Information Technology is an innovative program designed with input from major IT industry partners. On completion of this program you will:
have achieved industry recognised qualifications;
have the foundation to become leaders in the IT field;
be able to understand the impact of technological change;
be able to appreciate not only current usage of IT in business and industry environments, but also trends in computing; and
be able to analyse, design and implement up-to date Computer-based systems including those related to internet technology, multimedia and web-based applications.
The program is based on a number of core course, which cover the fundamentals of information technology. These course provide students with knowledge and skills in programming, systems design, networks and operating systems. The underlying focus will be on the fundamental concepts which enable students to become skilled professionals in all areas of web-based development. These core course will be complemented by elective studies in areas associated with software development, networking, business information systems or electronic commerce.
There will be a balance between specific knowledge of particular development tools (languages, operating systems, development environments) and general lifelong learning skills which ensure that graduates are able to remain at the forefront of this vibrant and rapidly developing sector.
Successful completion of Australian Year 12 High School examination, or overseas equivalent
Required proficiency in English – Overall IE TS band score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION This program is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). FEES AUD 7,500 per semester PROGRAM DURATION 3 years or 6 semesters PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The program consists of 24 courses. 15 core courses and 9 electives make up the program structure. The core course are designed to cover the material that you will need to appreciate, in order to become an IT professional. Elective course may be chosen from any area, and may form a sequence within the program. No more than 3 elective course may be taken at an introductory level. Computing electives can not be taken at an introductory level. All electives are subject to final approval.
