BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL (fall)
Practice may begin two weeks prior to the 1st contest that will be scheduled no earlier than the 1st
day of school. The regular season games will end when the regional play begins.
Practice may begin during the 2nd full week in October. Regular season games will end when the
regional play begins.
Practice may begin the first full week of April. The season will last from the middle/end of
April to extend no further past the state meet for grades 7-8 and no further past the end of May

*8th Grade Athletic Recognition Nights for Boys/Girls Basketball Players and Cheerleaders
will be held during the last home games of each sport, respectively.

All other pre-arranged events may be scheduled to promote certain community involvement with the Athletic Director and must be approved by the Administration.
- Coaches are responsible for the following policies and guidelines before the season begins:
Athletic Physical Date & physicals on file with Athletic Director before practice begins to participate. VGS is not responsible for the cost of any student-athlete’s physical exam (VGS B.P. 7:300 – R, page 1 of 6).
Emergency Information and Insurance verification
Parental/Guardian Signatures on any team rules forms etc.
All student-athlete information listed above should be copied and one copy should be on file with the Athletic Director’s office while the coach keeps the other copy.
All school fees paid in full for participation
Pre-season parent’s meeting to discuss rules and eligibility (see #3)
Check and inventory all equipment
Eligibility lists must be turned in to A.D. not less than 10 days prior to first contest (B.P. 7:300)
List of participants for academic eligibility to be facilitated weekly by athletic director (given to athletic director no less than five days prior to the first contest.
