Rules of Conduct at Basketball Games (VGS B.P. 7:300-r)

1.  All school rules/policy applies to all participants and fans in attendance at athletic contests

      2.  If you leave the building, you will not be able to re-enter

      3.  Do not stand in doorways – entrances must remain clear for safety reasons

5.

Do not stand or loiter in halls when the game is being played.  Seats should be taken when the game begins

6.

Do not sit in a seat reserved for players, coaches, managers, scorekeepers, timekeepers or other school personnel.

7.

ALL SPECTATORS ARE EXPECTED TO PRACTICE SPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR

8.

Food and drink are hesitantly permitted in the Gym.  Drugs, alcohol and or tobacco products are not permitted on school grounds.

9.

Vienna Grade School students, unless otherwise approved, must be present during the afternoon at a minimum to be eligible to attend games and extra-curricular events.

10.

Players are not to enter the gym and or locker rooms unless a coach is present

11.

The doors will open at 5:30 p..m. on normal game times for home contests

Rules for Ball Game Supervision (VGS B.P. 7:300-R)

1.  Be alert to your surroundings for students leaving the building, inappropriate behavior and safety issues.

2.  On nights when the band is playing, they will make arrangements to move equipment to and from the gym

     under supervision from the band director.

3.  Administration (Principal/Athletic Director) will be creating a work schedule for game supervisors.  The

    Administration (Superintendent, Principal, Athletic Director, and other personnel in charge) will make

    regular rounds to the various supervisors/workers to check for any problems.

4.  Admission persons are supervisors also.

a.  At the beginning of play, the halls shall be cleared and spectators shall be instructed to go to their seats

      b.  Watch for non-approved spectators entering or leaving the gym area and report this immediately to the

           administration

       c.  Supervisors should be prepared to stay until all spectators have left the gym or until the administration

            releases you

       d.  Money boxes (admission) shall be picked up at half-time of the varsity game.  Money from concessions

            shall be turned in to the athletic director or building custodian before leaving the game.

Open Gym and Summer Conditioning Program Policies  (VGS B.P. 7:300-R)

All school-related activities that include the use of the gym must be supervised by VGS personnel.  The gym may by open for community use that does not interfere with school-related use.  Outside organizations must receive permission from VGS Administration and must be able to provide proof of insurance.  For school-related activities, all school rules will apply.  VGS assumes no liability for participation other than students and employees of the district.

SIJHSAA policy (as well as IHSA policy) states that member schools may open their facilities for recreational activities to students, or other persons, in or outside of the district, without being in violation of policy under the following conditions:

1.

A variety of recreational activities are available during the school year

2.

There is no coaching or instruction in the skills and techniques in any sport

3.

Participation is strictly voluntary and is not required directly or indirectly for membership on an athletic squad
