Responsible for handing out rules sheets, practice and meet schedules before season begins
Responsible for bus departure and approximate return time
Responsible for handing out uniforms and track equipment by checking off who has what
Responsible for supervision before, during, and after practice and or track meets as well as providing transportation to and from practice if practice is not being held on VGS grounds – get approval from a VGS Administrator for such off-campus practices
Responsible for communicating with appropriate news media
Responsible for keeping in-season statistics
Responsible for attending conference and regional track meetings
Responsible for turning in an annual inventory to the Athletic Director’s Office as well as making equipment/uniform purchase requests for the following year at the end of the current track season.
Accommodate all athletic injuries by taping, wrapping, icing and other non-emergency treatments along with reporting all injuries to parents and athletic director
Responsible for providing names of student-athletes to athletic director prior to the season for academic eligibility purposes
Responsible for all sports equipment and facilities used
Conference with athletic director regularly regarding issues and concerns, and decisions made
All VGS athletic programs will fall under the jurisdiction of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association, the Vienna Elementary School District Board Policy, and Vienna Grade School Athletic Policy Handbook. A copy of the SIJHSAA Constitution, By-Laws, and General Information Handbook may be referenced in the Athletic Director’s office. The SIJHSAA is the governing body for junior high athletic programs in the Southern Illinois Region. It should be noted that many of the constitutional items, by-laws, and general information are congruent with the Illinois High School Athletic Association (IHSA). Included on page 5 of this handbook is the cover page of the 2003 SIJHSAA Handbook.
