Dartmouth Road ~ Speed Limit Review
Many thanks to the numerous residents who responded to our E-mail to press for a 30-mph speed limit from the Windy Corner to Churston Cross. This was passed by the Council and has been taken to the statutory organisations, such as the Police, for their comments. We hope that sense will prevail and they agree with the proposal.
GRA AGM held on Thursday 2nd
Yet again we had a good turn out at the GRA AGM. It has been a very busy year, and attendees were given details of the work that the committee has been involved in over the last 12 months. Undoubtedly the biggest issues for discussion were the Windy Corner road-widening scheme, travellers on the Common, and pedestrian safety in the village.
We were pleased to hear that those attending were so supportive of the work the (voluntary) Committee is doing on your behalf.
Paul Crocker and Peter Royle were duly re-appointed respectively to the roles of Secretary and Treasurer. Unfortunately, we are still without a Chairman.
Gordon Batten, Christine Batten (Minutes Secretary), Margaret Packer, Richard Boyles (Webmaster), Helen Boyles, Delia Hales & Steve Davies will continue as Committee members.
Finances & 2009 Subscriptions
The GRA accounts remain healthy and these were approved. The 2009 Subscriptions remain at just £2, on the basis that we might need to seek voluntary contributions for legal help to fight the Windy Corner road plans.
We are reducing our campaigns to just four issues for the coming year:
Spatial Strategy / 7,800 home New Town
30-mph Speed Limit - Dartmouth Road
Warborough Common - Road development over Common
Warborough Common - Protecting from “illegal visitors”
Churston with Galmpton Ward
