CITY OF MELBOURNE, FLORIDA MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING BEFORE CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 27, 2009

A regular meeting of the City Council was held in the City Council Chamber, 900 East Strawbridge Avenue, and was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Harry C. Goode, Jr.

Proclamations and Presentations

Mayor Goode presented a plaque to Pat Simpson in recognition of her volunteer service on the Citizens’ Advisory Board, March 1991 through December 2008.

Additionally, the Mayor presented a Certificate of Commendation to Yvonne Minus for her continued support and leadership on the Melbourne Police Community Relations Council. Ms. Minus began her third term as President of the Council this month.

City Manager Jack Schluckebier presented the Government Finance Officers’ Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (fiscal year ended September 30, 2007), to Director of Finance Michele Ennis and Assistant Finance Director Sondra D’Angelo.

Approval of Minutes – January 13, 2009 Regular Meeting

Moved by Meehan/Tasker for approval. Motion carried unanimously.

6.

City Manager’s Report

Stimulus Bill-American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – The City Manager reported that the Florida League of Cities, the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization and our lobbyists are asking the City to provide a list of projects that are “shovel ready.”
