6To work closely with external partner organisations such as Police, Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), Customs and Inland Revenue, Department of Work and Pensions and The Immigration Service towards the removal of criminally derived financial assets from those in breach of consumer protection legislation.

7To keep abreast of current developments and recommend changes to improve service procedures.  Provide specialist support and training to Trading Standards staff investigating offences that could qualify for the confiscation and restraint of assets.

8 To conduct confiscation investigations with a view to determining the suitability of restraint proceedings. To assist Trading Standards officers in the search of premises, seizure and recovery of evidence and conducting financial interviews as required.

9Prepare documentation and present evidence for court or other hearings, complying with the rules of evidence, court/hearing procedures and acceptable professional standards.

10Undertake cash seizures under the Serious Crime Act 2007.

11To be responsible for handling cash, cheques, giro cheques, goods and valuables and develop procedures for the safe keeping of such items.

12   Deal with all enquiries on behalf of the service from other agencies and jurisdictions relating to financial investigations.

13    To compile financial profiles and confiscation financial statements and liaise where necessary with specialist staff including analysts, accountants and counsel.

14    Participate in the Continuous Professional & Personal Development (CPPD) required to maintain and develop the necessary expertise for effective practice as a financial investigator.

15To assist in the training of both departmental and external personnel on relevant issues.

16To maintain accurate records of all financial investigations conducted ensuring the security, integrity and confidentiality of the data is maintained at all times and disseminating the information when necessary in accordance with the National Intelligence Model to appropriate recipients.

17Make effective use of the Service I.T. systems to assist in the presentation of financial data.
