METROPOLIS MASTER PLAN Los Angeles, California

MGA provided master planning and architectural design for the proposed 4,395,000 S.F. Metropolis development, which occupies a pivotal position in a rapidly evolving section of downtown Los Angeles. Anchored by an open public plaza and covered events venue, the mixed use project will contain 840 apartment units of various sizes, a 480-room hotel with associated meeting and ballroom spaces, 895,000 S.F. of Class A office space, and structured parking below grade. The MGA master plan calls for development in three phases, with the central plaza and residential tower in phase one; the mixed- use hotel and residential towers to the south in phase two; and the office tower to the north in phase three.

The twin towers of phase two form a portal to the city as one approaches the city from the west along Harbor Freeway, framing the view of downtown Los Angeles. The central public plaza connects the heart of the project to Francisco Street, providing an important link at the urban level between the Staples Center to the South and the heart of downtown to the North.
