Herscheleo - An astronomical/astrological lion celebrating Herschel (also referencing Galileo). The mane is a waterfall of shining silver stars on a deep blue-black cosmos. The Milky Way streams in sparkling nebulae across its back dissolving into the constellation of Leo, with Uranus and Herschel, Halley and comet etc.
Reading between the Lions - Bath in Literature from all time periods: poetry, novels, guidebooks and history. The body looks like antique parchment/paper, with small bronze or coloured lion figures, between which run lines of poetry and prose all about Bath. The lion’s mane is bronze with poetry and words along the contours of the hair. Royal Male - Bath’s unique role in the history of the postal service. A Post Office Red (or black) body, covered in some parts by ‘brown paper’ and ‘string’ with images: penny black, foreign and rare stamps; Victorian valentines; love letters; letters home from war; sea-side postcards and post labels. The head and feet are metallic gold, to reflect the royal connection.
