Lion design ideas
My studio will be open for the 2010 Dorset Art Weeks, with resident guinea pigs. This event, along with the Lions of Bath, is creating an exciting year for me, with plenty of hard work a head.
Having completed a Postgraduate Masterʼs Degree by Research, in 2006, I now understand some of Freudʼs theories, can talk at length about Mulvey, and love Irigarayʼs ideas. Oh, and yes, Cindy Sherman is definitely a feminist.
Other research I have undertaken includes a PGCE, in 2000. The Masters level dissertation for the course focused on the benefits of group work activity, for dyslexic young people; and, since then the positive therapeutic effect of art, for teaching, is something Iʼve become increasingly interested in.
Have worked for over 10 years, as a senior lecturer, at Southampton Solent University. However, I initially started out teaching in schools and Art Centres nationally, via a little entrepreneurial venture I undertook, called the Wild Art Company.
Way back in the Eighties I graduated from Epsom School of Art and Design. Freelancing as an illustrator, I then worked commercially for many womenʼs magazines, childrenʼs publishers and some product designers, but gave that all up to focus on my painting.
