Lion design ideas: The Egyptian sun/lion god Aker: the colours of the rising dawn spreading slowly over the lion figure, his head in the 'day' and tail in the 'night' time the leonine Sphinx: covered in riddles – maybe one made up specially for the event, the Nemean lion and Hercules: painted in black and ochre geometrics like a Greek vase, or with Victorian style weightlifters. However, my designs for 'Abi' and 'Ziggy' pigs were in response to my individual sponsors, and I would be willing to go on working in the same way for the Lions of Bath event.
Biog Annette Smith is primarily a painter interested in the passage of time and its relationship to lived experience. Her dreamlike images are informed by an interest in early photographic techniques. She decorated two of the King Bladud's Pigs in 2008 and has exhibited in London and locally.
