Portonovo

Portonovo is a small village close to Ancona - the busy administrative capital of the Marche and the largest city in the region. About 45 minutes drive from Ancona airport, the village has a tiny fishing port and some historical points of interest such as the early Romanesque church of Santa Maria. The village has a range of shops, regular transport connections to Ancona itself, speciality local cuisine and a range of outdoor activities are available locally.

The hotel hosting the school is modern, is located about 100-150 meters away from the beach, has 1 swimming pool of its own. Individual rooms are of a good standard and offer all the facilities you would expect including air- conditioning. More details at http://www.excelsiorlafonte.it. Participants wishing to arrive early or stay longer should make their own arrangements with the hotel directly for a special rate (full board) of 100 € per person in double room or 146 € per person in single room.

Organization

This school is organised and is sponsored as part of the education and training element of LargeSOFC. LargeSOFC is an Integrated Project of the 6th RTD Framework Programme of the European Union which focuses research on large scale SOFC power plant, more details can be found at:
