2007, the target of the company is to attain up to 13.6 tonnes including the production of the mine of Chapada.
The company Rio Paracatu Mineração S/A defined its project of expansion for the three-year period 2007/2009. It derived from investments in geological research (US$ 478 million). Characterising an increase in the reserves (measured + indicated) of 1.386.490 tonnes, with an average content of 0,4g/t; expanded useful life from 15 (fifteen) to 30 (thirty) years. Para the three-year period, the gross movement of ore will surpass 18 million tonnes (2007), moving to 35 million tonnes (2008) and 59 million tonnes (2009), corresponding to the production of 171.000 ounces of gold in 2007 for 571.000 in 2009.

In 2006 the prices of gold kept increasing in international exchanges. The strong increases of the prices of gold in the London Exchange (London Gold PM FIX) and in the New York Spot Gold, and also in the BM&F in Brazil recorded a trend towards increase for the next year.
The market of gold in 2006 maintained high levels of interest on the part of investors and speculators, which combined with the volatility pushed the prices of gold to the highest levels of the last 26 years. After having reached the peak of 725 US$/oz in the second quarter of 2006, the price was of about 600 US$/oz.
