COMMITTEE ON MINISTRY – The Rev. Brian Maguire See consent Agenda for additional action items For action, the committee recommends that the presbytery:

    Validate a specialized ministry for the Rev. Merritt Worthen as the part-time head pastor of the McKinley United Methodist Church, Dayton, Ohio beginning June 27, 2010. Motion passes on voice vote.

      Approve the annual review of pastor compensation for installed pastors and Certified Christian Educators for 2010 (Appendix K)

Recognition of retiring ministers

  • o

    The ministries of the Rev. Norman Godfrey and the Rev. Kay Davis-Dudding were celebrated at the occasion of their pending retirements. Expressions of gratitude and thanksgiving were offered by members of each congregation and of colleagues in ministry. Charge and blessing by COM chair and the presbytery was led in prayer by the Moderator.

information, the committee reports the following action taken on behalf of the presbytery:

    Bellbrook: Renewed the full-time Interim Pastor covenant with the Rev. C. Stanley Gockel for one year beginning February 8, 2010. Annual terms: effective salary $48,960; medical/pension dues through American Baptist Church; travel reimbursement up to $1,800; professional development reimbursement $1,200; professional expenses reimbursement $800; 5 weeks vacation; 2 weeks study leave; holidays granted to full-time employees; sick leave – full salary and pension until disability provisions become effective.

      Blue Ball - Approved the continued service of Candidate Kevin Lawler as student pastor through June 30, 2010 at the last approved terms of compensation.

      Dayton: Bath – Approved the part-time (20 hour per week) Interim Pastor Covenant with the Rev. Tom Martin for one year beginning May 1, 2010 on the following terms: effective salary $25,400, travel reimbursement $6550, study leave $500, professional expense reimbursement $800, five weeks vacation, two weeks study leave, terminable upon 60 days notice by either party.

      Dayton: Central: Approved the 2010 corrected terms (Stated Supply Renewal) with the Rev. David

        Jackson. Terms: effective salary $46,895, full medical/pension dues; auto reimbursement at IRS rate up to $2,000; professional development reimbursement $1,000; 4 weeks vacation and 2 weeks study leave annually.

      Dayton: Corinth - Approved the request of Rev. David Collins and the Session to appoint the Rev. Carmen Garrigan as Parish Associate. Her responsibilities will be to serve the church and the community under the direction of the pastor on a part-time, as needed basis. There will be no remuneration other than the standard pulpit supply honorarium as appropriate.

      Dayton: Southminster - Renewed the part-time (25 hrs. per week) Stated Supply Appointment of the Rev. Sue Hamilton for one year beginning January 1, 2010. Annual terms: Effective salary $37,577; automobile reimbursement at IRS rate up to $1,250; professional development reimbursement $1,010; professional expenses reimbursement $250; 4 weeks vacation; and 2 weeks study leave.

      Piqua: Westminster - Renewed the full-time Stated Supply appointment of the Rev. Kathryn Blocker Hinds for one year beginning January 1, 2010. Annual terms: effective salary $53,000; full medical/pension dues; SECA allowance $3991; travel reimbursement up to $2,000; professional development reimbursement $1,000; 4 weeks vacation and 2 weeks study leave.

      Reily – Renewed the terms of the Rev. Tom Ramsey as part-time stated supply for six months beginning March 1, 2010. The terms are identical to his last terms.

      Seven Mile – Completed the Triennial visit.

      Somerville – Appointed the Rev. Ed Brown as moderator of Session.

      Springfield: Oakland - Approved, if the way be clear, the Administrative Commission to install the Rev. Derrick Weston as pastor at Oakland on February 28, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. Members of this commission are Rev. Dwight McCormick, Elder Gloria Sessler (Springfield: Oakland), Rev. Tom Martin, Rev. Arby Conn, and Elder Dennis Piermont (Dayton: Westminster).

      Springhill - Renewed the part-time (10 hrs. per week) Stated Supply Appointment of the Rev. Angela Schenck for one year beginning January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Annual terms: Effective salary $11,150; estimated pension/medical dues $4830; FICA $787; reimbursed study expenses $500; reimbursed professional expenses $250; 5 weeks annual vacation and 2 weeks annual study leave.
