The Moderator reminded the presbytery that business was confined to the call of the meeting; no new
business could be introduced.
COMMITTEE ON MINISTRY – Rev. Brian Maguire For information, the committee reports action taken on behalf of the presbytery:
Huntsville - Approved the call as valid for ordination and approved the terms of call: Effective salary of $44,199; full medical/pension dues, SECA allowance $3381.22, travel reimb at the IRS rate, business/professional expenses reimb $2,700, continuing education reimb $1010, moving cost reimb up to $3,700.00, four weeks of vacation and two weeks of continuing education annually. At a duly called congregational meeting held on Sunday, June 27, 2010, the congregation voted in the affirmative to extend the call.
The committee recommends that the presbytery examine Candidate Benjamin Beres (Presbytery of Upper Ohio Valley) for ordination.
Rev. Maguire reported to the presbytery that the candidate had successfully completed all the educational requirements for ordination while under care of the Presbytery of Upper Ohio Valley and after graduation from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, was granted permission to circulate his dossier and seek a call. A sub-committee of the Committee on Ministry recommends that, pending successful examination for ordination, Mr. Beres be enrolled as member of the presbytery upon ordination.
After introducing himself with a brief autobiographical statement, Mr. Beres read his statement of faith and was examined by the presbytery. On motion/second, the examination was arrested, the candidate was led out of the room and the presbytery was given the opportunity for debate and discussion.
On motion from COM, Mr. Beres was approved for ordination as Minister of Word and Sacrament in order to serve the Huntsville congregation as Pastor; and to be enrolled as a member of the Presbytery of Miami Valley.
The presbytery was led in prayer by the Moderator.
On motion/second, the presbytery authorized the Committee on Ministry to appoint an Administrative Commission to ordain and install Mr. Beres.
Having completed the docket for this special meeting, the Moderator closed the meeting with prayer at 5:25 p.m.
The next stated meeting of the Presbytery of the Miami Valley is 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church, Fairborn, Ohio.
