warming, biodiversity reduction, salination, resource depletion and the impact of pollution are all big issues that our children will live with. Each of these can be impacted if every individual reduces consumption. The way we use our resources and products is a state of mind not just a necessity. John Stone

Leading Schools Fund The LSF is a Department initiative to assist schools to improve student learning. At PHSC we received over $600,000 to refurbish our Science rooms and supply new equipment. Additional funds were also provided to allow a number of staff time to develop a shared SoSE and Science curriculum in Years 7 & 8. The injection of funds and time release for staff have lifted the morale of teachers and resulted in positive change to classroom practice. There is greater cooperation and sharing of ideas between staff and more coherence across the school in its aims. Last Tuesday, Department officials spent the day talking to groups of staff involved in the program to better inform the Department’s policy and practice. In conclusion there was acknowledgement of our progress and affirmation of the direction we were taking.

World Environment Day June 5th It was great to see a large number of staff and students at the “Save our Forests” rally on Sunday. It was a day of optimism and a time to reaffirm commitment to making a difference. I hope everyone connected to the Princes Hill community will consider reducing their consumption as this is
