“greater than 120 cm.”  Turbidity tubes are used by many volunteer water monitoring groups around the world, and we wanted to test them in our watershed.

Figure 1.  Map of sample sites for the 2006 Turbidity Pilot Study.  The West Branch sites are listed from the upper to the lower watershed and are: Prescott Pond Brook located off the North Palermo Road, Palermo below Branch Pond on Water Street, Meadow Brook just above the confluence with the mainstem, Weeks Mills above the bridge, Windsor Station above the Rt 105 bridge, Choat Brook at the old railroad bridge just above the confluence, and the Howe Road bridge.  The Sheepscot River sites are listed from the upper to lower river.  These sites are: the mainstem at the Upper Hostile Valley Rd, above the Route 105 bridge, the Gore Road (also known the “Hatchery Road”) bridge below Sheepscot Pond, Coopers Mills above Route 17, North Whitefield below Route 126, Kings Mills below Route 194, and Alna just below the dam.  The town of Alna is the head-of-tide for the river.  Note that only some sites were sampled on any one sample day.
