KATIE BROWN WORKSHOP II /2 PRESS RELEASE
Katie approaches her audience as a young housewife and mother who, along with her viewers, discovers tricks to cooking, gardening and decorating. She is a trusted friend offering up fast, easy projects and recipes that “are about shortcuts, having fun and keeping it real and simple.”
During each episode’s “Cook” segment, Katie prepares a variety of simple but elegant meals, ranging from poached eggs with pesto to beer-simmered bratwurst and tapenade puff pastries, along with kid-friendly dishes like tacos and peanut butter and jelly cornbread sandwiches.
In the “Nest” segments, Katie transforms ordinary items into ornate homemade gifts and household flourishes. This season, she creates tin window planters, a child-size “doodle desk,” woven serving trays, candelabras, wrapping paper, vases, stylish food baskets, backyard fountains, invitations, flower arrangements, denim napkins, draperies, slip covers, coasters, bird feeders and wreaths, among many others. She also shares her secrets for adding festive accents to a holiday buffet, labeling for organization and picture-perfect framing.
In the “Grow” segments, Katie works magic with a variety of Mother Nature’s accessories like herbs, beach sand or eater plants. In the episode entitled “A Natural Beauty,” Katie roasts nuts and freezes grapes, then creates a beautiful pressed-leaf collage.
