ATTENTION ALL REGION 2 SPONSORS AND STUDENTS

ANNOUNCING  OUR 2011 COMMEMORATIVE PROGRAM COVER DESIGN CONTEST

By now hopefully, most student projects have been completed or near completion and everyone is getting anxious for the Region 2 Fair at the Museum on March 12th and 13th.   Most of you know our region gives each student a commemorative program book to keep as a memento of their participation in the fair.  This booklet contains the names, schools and project listings for all student projects and papers.  Funding for this booklet comes from the sales of T-shirts and well-wishers.

In previous years the traditional Region 2 logo was used as the cover design.  Last  year to get more school and student involvement, we invited all schools to participate in a Cover Design Contest.  The results were successful so we are having 2011 Fair Program Cover Design Contest.  The contest is open to any 7th or 8th grader  or high school student at your school and the student does not have to be a Science Fair participant.  Hopefully since the students’ science  project work is almost complete,  many students may consider participating in this opportunity.  Please spread the word…….

We are asking all sponsors to invite  their students to enter the 2011 Program Cover Design Contest and encourage art teachers to also help in this effort.  The theme for this year’s cover design is The Evolution of Science and Technology over Time putting emphasis on the importance and impact that new scientific inventions have had on the modern world.  Let the students imagine what it means to them and any artistry of their own corresponding to this theme is permissible.  See specific guidelines on next page and also on our Region website.

At the Regional Fair we will display all entries and each participant will receive a certificate of participation.  The winning school and student will each receive a $25 check.  The winner will be given these awards on stage at the Awards Ceremony.

The deadline for submission is February 25th, 2011.  The winners will be chosen by the Student Board of Directors of which Kristen Rockey is our Student President.   She is also looking for more students to become members of our Student Board.  We need Student help on the day of the Awards Assembly and after judging on Saturday.   Please encourage your students to become part of the student Ambassador program.  It is not too  late and your school also gets recognition for your endeavors.

Again as a side note:

We also need student volunteers on Sunday to pass out programs to the Awards Assembly and help back stage.  Any science fair student can participate.  Runners are also needed for both the Paper and Project Sessions.   Please encourage your students and their siblings to help us out in these needs.  Looking forward to seeing you at the Fair.

For further information, feel free to contact us at any time.
