The Tuesday morning business session featured two guest speakers—John Adams, “Risk Management: Making God Laugh,” and Ross Shafer, “Nobody Moved Your Cheese.” The morning ended with the Members Only Session.
Early on, John Adams asked, “How do you make God laugh?” He answered, “Tell him your plans.”
John, professor emeritus of geography at the University College London, was a member of the original board of directors of Friends of the Earth in the early 1970s and has been a participant in debates about transport planning and environmental risks ever since.
In 2006, John was elected an honorary member of the Institute of Risk Management, and his essay “Risk Management: It’s Not Rocket Science; It’s More Complicated,” was awarded the inaugural Roger Miller Essay prize by the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers.
