Noted Barnard Road crack seal isn’t done.  Mr. Vanek said the completion date is September 30, 2005, after which (the contractor knows) liquidated damages will begin.

Said Barnard Klooster Road at the Barnard Church driveway washes out after each rain; Mr. Harmon will have Afton stone placed.

Chairman Way:

Asked when Gennett Road project would begin; Mr. Vanek said crushing will begin September 28, 2005.

Said the “Way family” will volunteer to mow the US31 bike path again in 2006.

Commissioner Ogden moved to pay bills totaling $­126,356.10, seconded by Commissioner Saunders.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2005

Chairman Way called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.

Chairman Way, Commissioners Saunders and Ogden, County Commissioners Shirley Roloff and Ron Reinhardt, Patrick Harmon, James Vanek and Shelley Kondrat attended, along with Banks Township trustee Tom Mann, Bergman Marina owner Doug Bergman, H&D, Inc. representative Vince Carpenter and Petoskey News-Review Reporter Fred Gray.

Commissioner Saunders moved to approve August 22, 2005 regular meeting minutes with the following corrections, seconded by Commissioner Ogden.

Page 1, line 5:add “snowmobile trail” before “groomer”

Page 3, line 119:change “mostly” to “most”

Page 4, line 132:change “exhibit” to “demonstration”

VOTE:Ayes – 3Nays – 0Motion carried.

Mr. Mann thanked all present for assisting in proposed endeavor to upgrade Ellsworth Road to a state trunkline (from M66 to US31) to improve traffic flow.  He presented proposed motion for CCRC, and explained the process has just begun.  The Board questioned if loosing losing primary road mileage would negatively affect CCRC’s Michigan Transportation Funds (MTF).

SUPPORT RESOLUTION

M-32 EXTENSION

Commissioner Ogden moved to adopt the following RESOLUTION, supported by Commissioner Saunders.

WHEREAS, M-32’s eastern terminus is near the shoreline of Lake Huron at the intersection of US-23 in Alpena; and

WHEREAS, M-32’s western terminus is at the intersection of M-66 causing it to fall short of the shoreline of Lake Michigan by merely 11 miles; and

WHEREAS, establishing M-32 as a true cross-peninsular state highway through Charlevoix and Antrim counties would provide a more direct, efficient, and convenient route for county residents, visitors, and business interests, and
