Mr. Vanek:

Explained Boyne Valley Township request to realign Old Mackinaw Trail 10’-14’ west of the existing roadbed (total project length: 2,650’ – starting where the hard surface ends on Old Mackinaw Trail to Sheriff Road).  He said the current southbound lane would become the northbound lane; the southbound lane would be newly constructed; both sides would require ditching and restoration; and many trees will be removed at the projects east end.  Commissioner Ogden asked if project conformed to CCRC specifications.  Mr. Vanek said the township cannot afford widening to current specifications, which is more costly due to pushing ditches out, and additional topsoil & earthwork.  Bid opening date is postponed until Mrs. Kondrat investigates if reconstruction or new construction.

Said Michigan State Police have no more funds for Anderson Road crossing Porter Creek, but prior $30,000 FEMA Grant is secure.

Reported Black Road project is progressing well; gravel application begins this week.

Mrs. Roloff said new road is being constructed near Boyne City-Charlevoix Road/US31 intersection at Bergman Marina.  Mr. Vanek said it is a temporary road for topsoil removal and waste material disposal during project.

Mr. Harmon said Eveline Township supervisor John Vrondran brought signed contract for 4 more gravel projects, but there is only 1,500 cyd left at Sutliff Pit.  Drenth Brothers will supply gravel to complete 2005 gravel projects.

Commissioner Ogden moved to award West Road drainage improvement project (Bay Township) to low bidder Tri-County Excavating ($69,704.45), seconded by Commissioner Saunders.

VOTE:Ayes – 3Nays – 0Motion carried.
