As medical director for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Com- pany, Dr. Sherman is involved in health-related benefits strat- egy development and implementation for Goodyear employees and their families. As director of health and pro- ductivity initiatives for the Employers Health Coalition of Ohio, Bruce provides value-based health and productivity management (HPM) strategies for member companies. His areas of specialty are identifying HPM opportunities, developing program-specific business case scenarios to quantify the value of proposed solutions and formulating organizational metrics to effectively manage HPM-related initiatives.

Dr. Sherman is active in the American College of Occupational and Environ- mental Medicine as a member of the Health and Productivity and Corporate Medical Directors Sections and as a multi-year reviewer for the Corporate Health Achievement Award. He has presented workforce HPM topics to diverse audi- ences and has published numerous HPM-related articles.

Bruce received his medical degree from New York University School of Med- icine, his master’s from Harvard University and his degree from Brown Univer- sity. He is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

David is chief medical officer and senior vice president of health management and informatics for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross). He joined Blue Cross in Febru- ary 2005 to lead the newly created division of business intelli- gence and informatics and was subsequently assigned responsibility for the pharmacy division. He was promoted to chief medical officer in May 2006 and now has responsibility over the entire health management division, consisting of consumer health, population health and medical management for government programs.As a member of the executive team, David develops strategy and sets direction for the business as a whole, especially as it relates to the area of medical management and claims trend.

David has a 25-year career in medicine, teaching, consulting and corporate leadership, most recently with Deloitte Consulting LLP as the national practice leader for health plan medical management and provider strategy. During that time, he also served as editor for several disease management journals and medical management books.

His recent experiences include eHealth initiatives, care management, centers of excellence and population health, combining emphasis on both risk factor reduction and disease management. David developed the first nationwide cen- ters of excellence network for solid organ and allogeneic bone marrow trans- plants. He is a recognized expert in data analytics in the health care industry, and currently has national responsibilities for Blue Health Intelligence, a new Blue system data warehouse with an 80 million member inventory.

As vice president and medical director for Con- sumer Health Solutions, Dr. Thygeson is responsible for providing medical direction in sales, marketing and product development as well as executive lead- ership for worksite health programs. Marcus works closely in partnership with the leadership of Sales and Account Services, Customer Service and Product Development, as well as Health, Medical, and Network Management, to help translate key account trends and requirements into product, service and other solutions.

Prior to joining HealthPartners, Marcus served as the medical director for Definity Health; he was responsible for Personal Care Support strategy and op- erations, and supporting Consumer Activation, Network Strategy and Provider Relations. Prior to joining Definity Health, Marcus was the chief medical officer of Mywayhealth, another consumer-driven health care benefit plan. Before My- wayhealth, Marcus held a number of medical management positions at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, California, and served from 1996 to 2000 as the medical director from Alta Bates Medical Group, an award winning California IPA. Marcus is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Marcus received his B.S. summa cum laude from the University of California at Davis, and is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. He received his medical training at Virginia Mason Hospital, where he was Chief Medical Resident, and at the University of California San Francisco.
