An alternative, or perhaps complementary, approach gives even more control to learners, by providing the tools for them to create their own personal learning landscape for example Elgg (http//elgg.net/) makes available tools for blogging, social networks, e-portfolios and folksonomies.
Hopefully this article has provided a flavour of the power of a collaborative approach to using ICT and the tools that are readily available.
