I may give a quiz at any time during a lecture or lab without prior notice. Each correct answer on a quiz will be worth ½ point of additional credit. I will not give any make up quizzes!
Lecture exams will be given in the college’s Student Assessment Services Center (SAS). On the days when an exam is available, please take the exam at a time other than when class is in session; I will still be conducting regular classes. Allow yourself enough time to complete each exam before SAS closes. I will design each exam so that ninety minutes should be sufficient time to complete each exam. However, you can take as much time as you like! If you want three hours, then allow yourself three hours. You will have a window of at least two days to take each exam administered through SAS.
Make-up exams will not be given unless extreme circumstances arise (e.g., hospitalization) and documentation is provided to me. If you do miss an exam, then contact me as soon as possible to discuss the possibility (no guarantee!) of a make-up exam. I will announce specific dates for each lecture exam as I cover the material for each exam. Approximate time frames can be discerned from the “Lecture and Exam Schedule,” which appears on the last page of this syllabus.
Attendance Policy I expect students to attend all class meetings, and I will keep a record of attendance at lectures and labs.
Classroom Etiquette I expect you to be on-time for all class meetings and to remain in class until I dismiss the class. If you must enter or exit the classroom while class is in session, then please do so discretely. Pagers and cell phones should be silenced during class!
