Brethren,

I would like to start this article with a word of welcome to our three new members. Bro Charles Hurlbut was accepted for affiliation and Mr. Bryan A. Durksen and Mr. Aaron E. Basham were elected to receive the Degrees of Masonry in our Lodge. In fact, both gentlemen were initiated as Entered Apprentice Masons on February 11 in an outstanding degree produced by a great cast. J.C. Knapp, PM was in the east, Brother Bud Gurney did the perambulation, Brother Buck Derrington delivered the lecture, and Brother Bob McCarthy delivered the Charge.

The Sweetheart’s Dinner was also a success. The attendance was 150% larger than last year. The Newlywed Game went over well. Our competing couples were Bob and Sally McCarthy (last year’s winners), Bryan and Laurie Durksen, Howard and Geri Mann, and Jeremy Raff-Reynolds and his fiancée, Megan Coulton. Thank you to all who attended. We had a good time. A special thanks to Mike Woods and his kitchen crew for a superb meal.

March’s Stated Meeting will be preceded by a Dinner (at 6:30) for Masons, their families and guests. This is a good opportunity to introduce new people to the Fraternity and to the members of the Lodge. I have heard that the menu includes strip steaks, vegetables, and salad. Suggested donation is $8.00, Widows and Birthday Boys are complimentary, as always.

Senior Deacon: Jason M. Cochran Phone: (805) 727-1498 Jasonmarkcochran@yahoo.com

Our meeting agenda includes reading two or three petitions for degrees, perhaps some EA proficiencies, and of course the normal business that comes before the Lodge.
