Medium Term Financial Strategy
In summary the Medium Financial Strategy (MTFS) FOR 2006/7 – 2008/9 sets out to:
summarise the financial context within which the Council is working;
provide a stable financial framework for the Council over the period of the Plan, taking into account the need to address new statutory requirements, known financial pressures and new Government initiatives;
within that framework ensure through a variety of means that financial resources are made available to deliver the Council’s Strategic Priorities and Development Themes as set out in the Corporate Plan.
Given the increasingly challenging environment for local authorities, it is important that we have a financial strategy that enables us to maximise income and manage our expenditure each year. Critically, it defines the approach we will use to deliver our Efficiency Programme, provide for new investments and deliver an appropriate Capital Programme all within an increasingly pressurised environment.
