Code of Conduct The public is entitled to expect the highest standards of conduct from all employees who work for local government and that their conduct should never be influenced by improper motives. All employees are subject to the Code of Conduct, which outlines the responsibilities of all employees in this area.
Smoke-free working environment Smoking is not permitted in Council buildings except in designated smoking areas.
Health & Safety Policy The Council aims to ensure a safe working environment for all its employees through the implementation and monitoring of its health and safety policy, providing training and guidance of safe working practices where appropriate.
Each position within the Council is subject to satisfactory references and medical clearance. The nature of the work of Children and Young People and Community Care involving access to vulnerable people and highly confidential information, necessitates a requirement for relevant pre-employment checks to be undertaken before appointing individuals to roles. Authorisation from an applicant will be received prior to the necessary checks taking place. Below are the standard checks that are put in place:
