Pastor s Corner

January 25, 2015 Catholic Schools Week

National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts this Sunday and runs all week, January 25 - 31. The theme for this year is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, typical of other Catholic Schools, observes the annual celebration this week. Please see event details under the Education News section in this week’s bulletin. Through these events, our school focuses on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our Church, our communities and our nation. As Pastor, I would like to offer three salutes to our teachers and catechists for their dedication to Catholic Education:

  • 1)

For the manner in which they share their faith with the students and help them know and love Jesus Christ.

  • 2)

For the care and love they show our students through their dedication and concern for their future as they help them grow in knowledge.

  • 3)

For the manner in which they remind our students not to always be so wrapped up in their own little world, but be open to the needs of others, and so improve the world in which we live.

specifically St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School. The Catholic community and the community at large are invited to support Catholic education through this dinner/dance event. Each year, the ball committee presents the Margot Bradley Service Award to a person in each parish, recognizing him or her for their service to the Catholic community. This year, St. Anne Church will recognize Dr. Tom Jacobs for his outstanding service and dedication to Catholic education. Tom is originally from the San Francisco Bay area. He is a local podiatrist, and his wife, Wendy, currently teaches at St. Anne- Pacelli School. They have been members of St. Anne Parish for 25 years and have four boys, who all attended St. Anne- Pacelli. Currently, Tom is serving in his 2nd year as Chairman of the Deimel Ball and has been a member of both the Steering and Sponsorship Committees in several capacities since its inception. Congratulations Tom!
