SECTION 3 - PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS
The Forklift trucks described by these specifications shall consist of:
Forklift trucks with a telescopic mast, 96 inch rounded tapered slab blades, pneumatic tires, air conditioned/enclosed operator's cab, power transmission system (consisting of diesel engine, torque converter, transmission, drive and steer axles), and hydraulic system.
An electro-permanent magnet lifting beam (supplied by Tecnomagnete, Walker or ASPA approved equal) installed on the forks capable of safe handling/lifting steel slabs as described by these specifications. A totally enclosed hydraulically driven generator (or ASPA approved equal) shall be provided to provide power to operate the electro-permanent magnets. This generator shall be integrated into the Forklift truck hydraulic system and shall be installed in a secure location on the Forklift truck to prevent to the greatest extent possible stevedore damage (under the floor or hood).
All materials and equipment (such as engine controls, electrical enclosures, hydraulic systems, etc.) required for safe and efficient Forklift truck operations in the environmental conditions at the terminal site.
The design shall consider (and permit) the Forklift trucks to be transported to/from the dock from/to the hold of a bulk vessel by means of the shore based cranes. Any/all lifting beam(s) and/or other lifting apparatus required for the Forklift trucks to be safely and easily handled by the crane (within the crane’s capacity and arrangement limitations) shall be provided as part of this contract. As a minimum, the Forklift trucks shall be provided with a removable counterweight system that will limit the lifted weight of the Forklift truck (including magnet beam and any required lifting beam/apparatus) to 62MT. Refer to Appendix D for details of the shore based cranes lifting devices.
Lifting beam/apparatus (beam, slings, chains, etc) as required to safely and efficiently interface with the Pinto Terminal Shore Based cranes for transport of the Forklift trucks to/from the vessel/dock as described in Section 6.4.
All other parts and appurtenances as necessary for continuous steel slab handling and typical Forklift truck operations and for maintenance.
