A transmission oil cooler and oil filter shall be provided. Gauges for transmission oil temperature and oil pressure shall be located in the cab.
Full power foot-operated wet disc type brakes of adequate capacity are to be provided. Brakes shall be self adjusting and provide easy replacement of the friction materials. The brakes shall be adjustment free and sealed from dirt and moisture.
A hand-operated parking brake shall also be provided.
To minimize operator effort, power steering shall be provided. The rear wheels of the Forklift trucks shall be equipped with double acting cylinders with maximum tire overall width to provide for a tight turning radius and maximum stability. To minimize the turning radius, turning of the steering wheels without movement (prior to movement) of the Forklift shall be possible. Details of the turning radius shall be provided.
Tires and Wheels
Rock lug type tires of adequate load carrying capacity for use in harsh industrial heavy duty applications shall be provided. Tread depth shall be the maximum available.
Magnet Beam System
The Forklift trucks shall be equipped with an electro-permanent type Magnet beam system as supplied by Walker, Tecnomagnete or ASPA approved equal adequate to handle the specified steel slabs at the rated Forklift truck performance.
The control of the Magnet beam shall be coordinated between the Forklift Manufacturer and the Magnet beam supplier, with all controls and indications in the operator’s cab.
The Magnet beam supplier shall have within their scope of supply all control devices and cabinets required for the successful operation of the magnet beam system. If the generator is supplied by the Manufacturer, the Magnet beam supplier shall provide an application approval.
Magnetization and Demag shall not exceed 7 seconds for each action.
