The Scope of these Specifications shall include the design, manufacture, assembly, testing, transportation and placing into service of steel slab handling pneumatic tired forklift trucks complete with Magnet beam system, lifting beam/apparatus and other related items contained in these specifications ready for service at the Terminal Site as described in the supplemental data sheets of Section 11.2.
The steel slab handling Forklift trucks shall be designed for heavy duty continuous steel slab handling operation without the necessity to perform other functions. The magnet beam shall be securely suspended from the Forklift truck’s forks/mast.
An electro-permanent magnet lifting beam (supplied by Tecnomagnete, Walker or ASPA approved equal) installed on the forks capable of safe handling/lifting steel slabs as described by these specifications.
The Forklift truck design, including size and number of tires, shall provide maximum safety and stability under all operating conditions within its capacity range.
In addition to the forks provided for interface with the Magnet beam, the each Forklift truck shall be provided with a set of rounded tapered slab blades.
1.3.6. The equipment furnished shall meet or exceed the requirements of these specifications and the applicable provisions the referenced codes and standards.
The Forklift trucks furnished to these specifications shall:
Have adequate safety devices to protect personnel, the Forklift truck, vessel and steel slabs from injury or damage during service.
Be highly reliable through the use of conservative design factors.
Be highly productive in periodic continuous operation for a minimum of ten (10) years useful life. ASPA recognizes needs for repair/replacement of rotating equipment and periodic inspections.
Be easily maintained and require a minimum of maintenance.
The Contractor shall propose the model of Forklift truck which satisfies the minimum requirements as stated in these specifications.
