Without steady income, Maria and her three children were out of money for food or rent and spent Labor Day weekend in their van. But thanks to your support, the following week they all came to Star of Hope. “It hurt to be put out, because that’s my grandmother,” Maria says, “but God has a plan for all of us.”
Since Maria arrived, she has found encouragement and hope
ThankYou for Encouraging Their Hearts!
like never before. “Before, I was not as spiritual as I am now, but with Star of Hope, we have hope. Walter, the gate attendant, is so encouraging. Every day we go out looking for work, and it’s hard, even with an accounting degree. But he prays for us and tells us to keep our heads up.”
Maria is also very appreciative of the love that her children are receiving at Star of Hope. “I want them to know that God is good, even though there are stopping points in the road. Cassandra has a speech impediment, because we speak Portuguese, Spanish, and English. She is a little confused, but her English is getting much better. She has friends in day care and loves the playground. Though she cried the first da , she ran to
give her teacher a hug the second. The people taking care of her are very kind.”
Maria’s other two children have also felt loved and show their affection by running to give our staff members hugs! “There are no words to express how big of a light this place is in my life. If we weren’t here, we would be living in my van still,” Maria says.
On behalf of Maria, we want to join her in saying, “A million, billion, trillion thank-you’s” for all of your compassion and support. You have truly given one mother and her three precious children new hope for a bright and successful future.
