‘Cybernetic’ systems – ‘self-governing’ – where feedback

is used to guide, regulate systems – (p. 62) – the use

of ‘reference signals’ and ‘self-instructions’  for action (e.g.

knowing when ‘enough is enough’ and telling yourself

to leave the situation
