The police officers, staff and wider police family serving the Filey Safer Neighbourhood Team are committed to making Filey an even safer place to live and work by building safer and stronger communities. In particular they are encouraging and supporting the growth of Neighbourhood Watch schemes, which are fundamental to developing a stronger community spirit within neighbourhoods.
In Filey there are now 77 neighbourhood watch areas with 3 coordinators. There are also numerous No Cold calling zones.
The Filey Safer Neighbourhoods Team work with the community and partners to target criminals and restrict their ability to commit crime in the Filey. Working with Scarborough Borough Council they are also focusing efforts on those who commit acts of anti-social behaviour. The team regularly carry out joint work with Safer Communities, Yorkshire Coast Homes, Sanctuary Housing, and Filey schools, local councils, Youth Services and have had a number of excellent results.

Filey has a range of health services. These include:
Filey Surgery is located on Station Road, opposite the Bus station and adjacent to the library and car park. It has its own small car park for staff and patients.
There are 5 resident Doctors and occasionally visiting and trainee Doctors. Specialist senior nurses and visiting nurses together with district nurses, midwives, administrators and Managers.
Pharmacies are located in the town (Boots) in the surgery and the Bay Pharmacy which operates a full time delivery service.
For referrals and specialist services Filey uses Scarborough, Bridlington, York and Hull. Scarborough has an accident and emergency unit. The others have specialists in various fields. They work closely together and in certain circumstances provide transport for out patients and others.
