      • They particularly want brands, know-how, and technology

    • Lots of inefficiencies, but the spirit of the people is still strong

  • Doing business or setting one up has never been more accessible

    • Japanese companies willing to trade with smaller, unknown foreign co’s

      • But you need a credible partner at some point

    • Staff are more willing to switch jobs

      • Balanced by tight labor market making it harder to find them

    • Japan has rule of law, and most co’s keep their word

    • You can repatriate your profits, do IPOs, receive proceeds of capital gains

    • It doesn’t need to cost the earth, start slow and modest and ramp up
