MAKING WORK HAPPEN

We’ve all seen it on site: hard hat, hi-viz jacket, shiny shoes and a clipboard……………… The Health & Safety Officer.

Often, due to the onerous sanctions available to the courts for health and safety failings, many of these “officers” can be a little officious – they take their jobs seriously, as they should, but occasionally the power becomes too much for them to carry and they act in strange ways. Under the guise of ‘protecting the public’ they’ll stop work on site while a minor breach of law is discussed and rectified.

Obviously we at Sygma Safety are not advocating the flouting of rules and regulations – we take Health & Safety seriously too! But what we prefer is a balanced and reasonable approach to site situations, working with staff to find solutions, communicating not commanding. We won’t let you “get away with” breaches, rather we’ll “educate to enforce”, teaching your staff as they go, allowing work to continue.

In this most artistic of industries, there are often misunderstandings with the Health & Safety Officer. What may on the surface sound like an outlandish idea, may actually be a straightforward process, especially when carried out by experienced and competent staff. Sygma Safety are in business to help you work safely, but also to PRESERVE YOUR CREATIVITY; through risk assessment, communication and our wealth of experience we can keep your dreams alive and help you produce stunning shows.
