Aprendiendo la matemática a través de los juegos matemáticos

Los juegos matemáticos forman parte de la vida cotidiana de toda la gente a través de las culturas. En el caso de los niños, los juegos son un componente fundamental de sus vidas. Un juego matemático bueno se puede jugar con pocos conocimientos pero para empezar a ganar de manera sistemática exige al jugador a construir estrategias que implican mayores conocimientos. Los participantes de esta presentación recibirán ideas prácticas para fomentar la comprensión, el razonamiento y la retención sobre las matemáticas.

This presentation highlights ongoing efforts to partner Dishchii’ Bikoh’ Apache families and community/ school members to revive Dishchii’ Bikoh’ language using immersion approaches. The presenter will share the process experienced to involve families, community/school members in implementing a K‐12 Apache language program into the school and curriculum.

Exploring Our History and Our Environment with Bilingual Documents NAMBE

Integrate bilingual primary source documents, such as the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo into the teaching of science and history. Bilingual documents help children develop language skills, and develop science and social studies content knowledge. Students can create bilingual documents to preserve community history.

Principals at the Heart of Two­way Immersion: Advocates and Leaders SAN JUAN

Principals who understand the value of bilingualism are leaders who advocate for the academic needs of all learners in two‐way immersion programs. Such principals support teachers’ professional growth and maintain open communication with parents. Effective examples from a study with principals will be shared.
