This section will provide useful information for Veterans and their families. It is important to contact the appropriate agency to ensure that you and your family are taken care of during this time of separation.
Set up a power attorney, one for financial matters and one for health matters.
Work out a budget to make sure monthly bills are covered. Determine who will pay bills in the event the soldier cannot.
Make child care plans. Set up contingency child care plans in the event of an emergency
Write a list of primary and secondary list of next of kin, with numbers and addresses. Inform next of kin about how to contact the Soldier in case of emergency and let them know that assistance is available
Create an important document file
Teach family members how to check the fuse box, turn off water and check the water heater
