an opportunity for...
inviting others to come to an experience which will allow them to be introduced to Jesus Christ
to introduce others to the congregation of believers at Elim Baptist Church
to encourage us as believers to follow Jesus more purposefully
We are in Effingham, S. C. for the purpose summarized in the phrases given to us by Jesus in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus commissioned us to “go” to our neighbors, co-workers, family mem- bers, and friends, who have not made a life-changing decision to follow Jesus, or having made the decision to follow at some past time, have a need to renew the promise made to the Savior. Jesus commissioned us to bring those people into the vibrant love-based life of the local fellowship (“baptize”). We are to nurture (“teach”) those people and ourselves by learning and teaching the heart/word of God. All of this is done so that we can “go” to those who have not yet made a life-changing decision to follow Jesus .
For that reason, we’ve arranged for a unique evangelist, Larry DeLawder, to be at Elim for the weekend of April 5th and 6th. Our mission team to Mississippi met him last summer. He has been gifted to present the gospel while doing an impersonation of the beloved character of Deputy Barney Fife of The Andy Griffith Show.
On Saturday night (Apr. 5th) in the Moore Family Life Center, we will host a Dinner-Theater. This will be a ticket only event at no charge. The meal will be provided as an outreach ministry of the church (volunteers needed). Larry DeLawder is coming on a love offering basis which will be collected at the tables during the dinner-theatre. Members are encouraged to secure tickets for people who have been invited and confirmed. We will not over- book the Family Life Center, so it is important to sign up for and receive only the tickets needed. Every member/ family is encouraged to invite someone who is not a believer or is looking for a church home. We hope that one-fourth of the persons attending will fit that description. On Sunday morning, Larry DeLawder will be our guest for the 11:00 a. m. worship service. He will continue to encourage us and help us to be disciples for Christ to our
