7. CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE PCT & HOSPITAL TRUSTS
7.1 A pharmacy application from Mr Kamran Sarwar, t/a Hagley pharmacy for a new 100 hours contract at 429 Hagley Road West, Quinton, Birmingham was received.
7.2 Guidance on Local Involvement Networks (LINks). LINks have taken over the responsibility of patient and public involvement forums and are responsible for finding out what people want from their health and social care services. The local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 made it a legal requirement that every local authority area that has social services responsibility has to have one.
7.3 Primary Care Trusts within the West Midlands SHA area were required to submit their five year strategic plans to the SHA by June 2009. The aims of Dudley PCT include reducing the need for hospital care, providing care closer to home and the commissioning of services with a range of providers including the independent sector and voluntary organisations.
7.4 GP and Practice Team Bulletin includes Swine flu update, seasonal flu campaign materials and a new fund to support patient participation groups.
7.5 Dudley PCT launched their virtual ward pilot scheme at Keeling House Surgery; this is designed to address the needs of patients who are most at risk of repeated unplanned hospital admissions.
7.6 As a result of new research the Prostate Cancer Risk Management Programme information for primary care has been revised. Hard copies of the material have been sent to all GPs in England.
8.1. Walsall LMC newsletter received. Information regarding the issuing of Med 3 certificates for courts noted.
8.2 Worcester LMC newsletter received.
8.3 The case of an independent hospital demanding GMS cover for its patients was discussed.
