Elks National Foundation 2009 Most Valuable Student Scholarships – these scholarships are for any senior that is a US citizen. The application is based on several factors including scholarship, leadership, an essay, and financial need. Scholarships range from $60,000 down to $4,000 paid over a period of four years. Fill out an application form, collect supporting information and deliver materials to a local Elks Lodge. Deadline to ask for supporting information is December 19, 2008. Deadline for applications to arrive at the lodge is January 9, 2009.

Aircenter 1 Scholarship – Aircenter 1, Louisville’s premier flight instruction institution has announced a scholarship opportunity open to any person ages 16-20 years old with a GPA of 3.5. The scholarship not only includes a financial contribution but all necessary equipment and books required for flight training. The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts - Art Shops The purpose of this program is to provide high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with the opportunity to spend a day in a facility close to their hometown in a “hand-on” arts enrichment opportunity. Students participate in one of a variety of disciplines led by the region’s most outstanding teaching artists. Students also learn about the GSA Summer Program, audition, and application procedures, as well as other arts opportunities in their area. Programs of study include Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theater, New Media, Visual Art, and Vocal Music. The program is free for all interested. Ithaca College Park Scholars Awards for the School of Communications – this $41,768 communications scholarship covers the full cost of attendance for four years to Ithaca College. Students have the opportunity access state of the art technology and shadow media professionals in New York City and Intern in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and London. Fellowship of Reconciliation* Peace Essay/Video Contest – How would you apply non-violent conflict resolution to the Palestine/Israel Conflict? Ethnic Killing in the Democratic Republic of Congo? Kentucky School Counselor Association Lana Pennington Scholarship and KSCA Memorial Scholarship – KSCA offers tow $500 scholarships depending on donations to the program. Applicants should be enrolled in graduate level school counseling courses working on an advanced degree program in Kentucky. Recommendations from at least 1 professor in the school’s counseling department are recommended. Financial need will also be considered.
