McNally Smith College of Contemporary Music Scholarships – this is an opportunity for scholarships in amounts as high as $28,160 per year to study and prepare for a career in contemporary music at McNally Smith College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Scholarships are available for careers in the music business, recording industry, pop, jazz, blues, rock, country, and hip hop. This is an alternative way to earn a degree in music as opposed to the traditional “classical studies” programs at most colleges and conservatories. The Putney School Summer Program in Visual Arts, Theater, Music, Dance, Farm, Creative Writing, ESOL – Putney, Vermont – for high school students interested in a summer camp experience – these are three to six week sessions to learn from professional artists, writers, performers, experienced teachers, and from each other located on a 500 acre working organic farm and dairy in Vermont. Tourism Honors Academy Summer Program – this is an amazing opportunity for students that are rising seniors. During the summer between junior and senior years students will have the opportunity to live in a college dormitory for ten says while immersed in activities exposing the student to executives and CEO’s of Louisville’s most engaging tourist attractions and places of interest. Students will also engage in several over night trips during their senior year and receive free ACT/SAT Test Preparation classes. Students are selected competitively. Only 20 students will be chosen to participate – all free of charge. Fill out the application form located in the College Career Room. Deadline to ask counselors for required information is February 16, 2209 and all application materials must be presented by March 2, 2009.

Beechmont Woman’s Club Scholarship – this is a $1,000 scholarship opportunity to high school seniors attending a Kentucky college and majoring in an academic area or in music. Students must live in the following zip code areas: 40208, 40209, 40214, or 40215. Students must demonstrate proof of extracurricular activities, special interests, clubs, sports, church activities, jobs, or volunteer work. You will also be asked to write a short paragraph describing yourself. The committee will also examine your GPA, rank, academic rigor, ACT scores, but there is no set minimum on any of these. Fill out the application located in the College Career Room together with your counselor and return to the person listed on the application. Deadline: February 18, 2009 to request counselor information and March 4, 2009 to return all materials.

Body by Milk – America’s Milk Producers – USA Today 12th annual Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award – For exceptional high school senior scholar athletes, these are scholarships in the amount of $7,500 and an opportunity to attend a SAMMY weekend at Disney World and an opportunity to star in a Milk Mustache Ad in USA Today.
