YPAS Producers Scholarships – these $1,000 scholarships are available to senior YPAS majors or Manual/YPAS Double majors that have fulfilled the same requirements as a YPAS major. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and will be majoring in a recognized performing arts program in college which includes the fields of performance, education, therapy, technical theater,, or an internships with a professional company. Minors will not be considered as candidates. The student or family must also be members of the Producers to be eligible. Application packets are available in the YPAS Main Office until February 27, 2009. There is an informational meeting in the YPAS Orchestra Room on January 23, 2009 at 2:45 pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Deadline to submit the application packet and all materials is March 6, 2009. Recommendation Forms from teachers and private instructors are due by March 20, 2009.

15th District PTA Evangeline J. Sansome Scholarship - The 15th District PTS feels that all graduating seniors, regardless of scholastic standing, should be allowed to apply for this and all scholarships offered by the 15th District. Need and desire to further their education will be considered along with the standing. It is felt that students should be able to apply this scholarship to any type of training or schooling necessary to prepare them for their chosen careers. This scholarship is for tuition only. Criteria includes being a member of the local school PTS, appropriate application materials from the school counselor, written statements of why they are seeking this scholarship, a total of three references, and demonstration of financial need in addition to other criteria. The 15th District PTA will determine the number and amount of the award. Application materials are available in this packet of information. Deadlines: March 12, 2009 is the deadline for the 15th District to receive all information – please allow AT LEAST two weeks for counselors and principals to write letters of recommendation.

Delta Sigman Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship in Honor of Alice C. Nugent – this scholarship is awarded to a deserving senior African American Female and includes $500 per semester for four years for a total of $4,000. The student must be from Louisville, have at least a 2.7 GPA, and display financial need. For more information call 502-553-1451 or email lacdstscholarships@yahoo.com. Forcht Group of Kentucky/KHSAA Sportmanship Recognition Program Scholarship – this is a $3,000 scholarship for one male and one female senior student that has participated in athletics and/or cheerleading. There are local, regional, and state level awards. Only one male and one female may be nominated from each high school. Nominations must be made by your school counselor and athletic director. Minimum GPA of 2.5, photographs, documentation of sportsmanship, and letters of recommendation are required as well a type written response to a case study. Indicate interest to your school counselor immediately. Deadline for all applications to be submitted to counselors and athletic director is March 13, 2009.

Artist Bill Fischer Foundation for Working Writers – Created by William L. Fisher to provide scholarship assistance for working artists, especially those using modern mediums, to pursue additional training. Recipients may use the $500 and up scholarship for student art courses including the chemical composition of paint. Preference is given to Artists in Kentucky between the ages of junior high school to adult with preference being given to those using modern mediums. David Brown Vocal Music Scholarship Fund – created in 2001 to honor Mr. Brown’s retirement as founder and director of the Youth Performing Arts School Concert Choir for 23 years. The fund provides scholarships to graduating senior members of the choir who will major in music and intend to pursue a career in vocal music. The student must graduate from Manual High School, be a member of the YPAS Concert Choir, have been accepted as a music major in Performance or Music Education at a four-year conservatory, college, or university, demonstrate an intention to pursue a career in the field of vocal music, and financial need may be considered but is not the primary consideration in selection.
