Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition – this is a solo performance competition for classical, jazz, and contemporary musicians interested in winning a $5,000 retail credit toward purchase of a professional quality Yamaha instrument and gain national exposure while debuting in New York City. Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation – this is a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors from the greater Louisville area that will be attending a college or university in Louisville. Students should have demonstrated record of leadership and community service as well as a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Sewanee Summer Music Festival – this intense summer music experience is held annually at the University of the South in Sewanee Tennessee. It is a five week program in which students receive private lessons and perform in a chamber ensemble and full orchestra each week. This is one of the top summer music festivals in the United States. An audition cd is required and there is a $3,500 all inclusive tuition. Deadline: March 16, 2009.
