The Yum! Andy Pearson Scholarship Program – this is a scholarship opportunity in the amount of $2,500 for students attending a 4 year college, or $1,000 for students attending 2 year colleges or vocational-technical schools. There is also up to 10 bonus awards in the amount of $1,500 to students pursuing an approved food service/hospitality degree. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and financial need. Lily Banerjee Scholarship – this is a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for a student that attended Wheatley Elementary School for at least two years. Criteria for eligibility also includes demonstrated citizenship, financial need, 2.5 cumulative GPA, must attend a Kentucky College/University/Trade School. University of Louisville/McConnell Center Young Leaders Academy – this is a summer residential conference for high school students – the 2009 theme is “Clash of Cultures? America adVanceS the World” and will examine the United States, the Middle East, religion, politics, energy, and culture, and why it is all relevant today. The academy challenges students to engage one another in exploring and experiencing diverse viewpoints on major issues of the day while developing their leadership potential. The Academy takes place on the Uof L campus from July 15-18, 2009. Each participant receives a full scholarship to cover cost of housing expenses in a UofL residence hall, meals, books, and all other conference materials. Macalester College Fall Multicultural Sample Visitation Scholarship – this is opportunity for African American, Native American, and Latino American students to visit Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota for only a $75.00 registration fee. All transportation, meals, and lodging would be paid by the college. The visitation is for the fall of 2009.
