AFS, formerly known as American Field Service, is one of the world's largest community-based volunteer organizations dedicated to building a more just and peaceful world through international student exchange. More than 10,000 students, young adults and teachers participate in AFS exchange programs each year.


AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve through more than 2,100 nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based organizations. They tutor and mentor youth, build affordable housing, teach computer skills, clean parks and streams, run after-school programs, and help communities respond to disasters. Created in 1993, AmeriCorps is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which also oversees Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. Together these programs engage more than 2 million Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service each year.

Amigos de Las Americas

This is a volunteer organization that sends young Americans to Central and South America for humanitarian experiences. It creates opportunities for young people to excel in leadership roles promoting public health, education, and community development. Founded in 1965, AMIGOS is a non-profit organization that provides leadership training and volunteer service opportunities in the United States and Latin America.

City Year

City Year is a national youth service organization that unites diverse young people ages 17-24 for a demanding year of full-time community service, civic engagement, and leadership. For their work, corps members receive a weekly stipend of $175 and upon graduation are eligible for a $4,725 post-service award to be used for educational pursuits.

Corporation for National and Community Service

Learn how you can make a difference by serving with an AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, or Learn and Serve America Program. After their term of service, AmeriCorps members receive education awards that help finance college or pay back student loans.
