  • The Administrator for K-12 Schools is to “Model educational excellence and equity in district programs using district performance outcomes for all students.”

  • Principals are to “demonstrate sensitivity, understanding, and commitment to diversity and apply principles to working relationships with students, parents, and school community” and to “demonstrate understanding and commitment to equal employment practices and the District’s Affirmative Action Plan.”

Student and Staff Ethnicity

In an effective school system, the ethnicity of the staff reflects the ethnic composition of the students served. Such parallel representation provides role models and contributes to students’ sense of belonging. Exhibit 3.5.1 provides data on student and staff ethnicity at the elementary level.
