  • Four years of data on the standards-based Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) in reading, writing, listening, and mathematics for grade 4 (1997-2000); three years of data for grade 7 (1998-2000); and two years for grade 10 (1999 through 2000).

  • Four years of Advanced Placement data on the percentage and number of students achieving a score of “3” or higher on each advanced placement test from 1997 through 2000.

Overall, the auditors found that the long-term achievement trends for the Clover Park School District fluctuated from year to year and were mostly below state and national performance. A review of available assessment data showed large gaps in performance between various types of students and between schools within the district when such data were disaggregated. The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills is a norm-referenced test that is used by the Clover Park School District to compare the performance of their students with those across the country. The test battery measures student’s performance on a sample of skills and content in reading, language, and mathematics. A composite score was also generated based on performance in the other areas tested. Data are reported in terms of comparative performance to the national average of 50th percentile.

Exhibit 4.2.1 summarizes the median percentile rank performance of third grade students on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in reading, language, and mathematics from 1996 through 2000.
